Bear Loop

Bear Loop, or “North Shore East,” is a newer development of custom homes, in Big Bear City, on the northern shore of what locals refer to as “Baker Pond.”  Baker Pond is the man-made body of water bordered by Stanfield Cutoff and Division drive, which is home to the popular “walking bridge,” and the Stanfield Marsh Bird Sanctuary.

A handful of the approximately 60 homesites in the Bear Loop neighborhood have shoreline frontage and peaceful water views where it is not uncommon to catch a glimpse of the giant white pelicans, or grey herrons that seasonally make the marsh their home.  Many of the homes offer views of the mountains and ski slopes in the distance.

Developed in the late 1990’s and initially marketed by Coldwell Banker, the area offers wide paved and maintained roads, and underground utilities.  The protective CC&R’s have ensured the quality and medium to large size of the homes built, and a select few vacant parcels remain for building.

The style of homes in Bear Loop include Craftsman, chalets, some with a European influence, and a number of custom log-style residences with a “lodge” feel, and is a mix of permanent and vacation homes.

Directly adjacent to North Shore Drive, the area affords easy year’ round access and is just minutes from shopping, skiing, the lake, and all that Big Bear has to offer.
