Whispering Forest
“Whispering Forest” is an established residential area located on the North Shore in Big Bear City, just east of Baker Pond. It is bordered on the west by Division Drive, on the south by North Shore Drive, and backs to the National Forest on the north.
Whispering Forest was a high-demand area when it was developed (and still is!), and as such is host to many custom homes from medium to large in size. With a mostly upslope topography, homes have been designed to suit the sloping parcels, and also to take advantage of the ski slope and mountain views available from many properties.
A nice mix of full-time and vacation homes, the area offers a real mountain feel with lots of pines and ironwood. Some homes offer landscaped yards, while others embrace the natural vegetation. Winding streets meander through the hillside neighborhood, and a nice sunny exposure assists in keeping the roads easy-access after wintertime snows.
Home styles in Whispering Forest are decidedly “mountain,” with an abundance of chalet and contemporary styles with lots of decking and walls of glass to take advantage of the views and sunshine. A three-block area at the entrance to the area offers more level topography and traditional style homes.
Whispering Forest offers a secluded atmosphere, but is just minutes from Big Bear Lake or Big Bear City businesses and services. It’s close to Convention Center activities (including the seasonal Farmer’s Market and Oktoberfest), and just moments from National Forest access up Van Dusen Canyon.
Whispering Forest offers mountain-style hillside living in a variety of custom home styles, a quiet atmosphere, yet is conveniently located for ease of access to everything Big Bear has to offer.
