Neighborhoods Surround Big Bear Lake
Once you’ve decided to look for a piece of Big Bear to call your own, the big question is “where”. Our valley has many different neighborhoods to choose from, each with their own unique look and feel. What may be a perfect area for one person might not work for someone else. It really depends on where you are in your life and what your goals are.
For a first time buyer or a young family looking to purchase a home in Big Bear there are several great areas to choose from. If the home will be your primary residence, the neighborhoods of the central valley, including most of Big Bear City and Sugarloaf, are good places to start looking. You’ll be able to purchase a little more home for your buck and the central locations are closest to schools and shopping.
Maybe you want to get in on the lucrative vacation rental market. If so, you’ll want to look at properties close to Snow Summit, Bear Mountain, or near Big Bear Lake. The Moonridge area has always been popular with vacationers due the proximity of the resorts and the heavily wooded, mountain feel. Some of the neighborhoods near the village are not only affordable but are within walking distance to many attractions.
If you’re looking for a place to enjoy for your retirement years there’s really no place like Big Bear. Our relatively mild winters and proximity to Southern California’s beaches and deserts are just a few of the reasons retiree’s love our mountain paradise. East valley neighborhoods like Erwin Lake and Baldwin Lake are quiet, convenient, and affordable. Many people choose Big Bear as their summer home and live in another part of the country during the winter months.
